Valerie Maynard, 2019 Manager of the Year
On September, 11th 2019 Valerie Maynard of the Grant County Emergency Communications Agency was awarded Dispatch Manager of the Year for the State of Oregon by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials-International (APCO-Intl.) at their yearly meeting in Bend, Oregon. APCO is the largest international public-safety communications organization dedicated to serving public-safety communications officers and the general public.
APCO’s Dispatch Manager of the Year is awarded to Managers, Directors, or Administrators whose efforts demonstrate the highest level of commitment to its personnel, partner agencies and customers and exemplifies leadership, integrity, trustworthiness, dependability and forward thinking.
Maynard was nominated by dispatcher Cammie Haney citing Maynard’s outstanding leadership and her part in successfully retaining Grant County’s 911 Center during a budgeting crisis. Haney stated, “By partnering and closely working with various agencies that the John Day Emergency Communications Center served, Valerie with the help of many, was able to retain our local dispatch center, save six jobs, and ensure Grant County received the exceptional local service it deserved. None of this would have been possible without the positive relationships Valerie has created with other agencies over the years, without the passion she has for her community, or without the deep concern, respect, and care she has for her dispatchers.”
19 of Maynard’s 24 years of dispatch service have been spent serving the citizens of Grant County.
The Grant County Emergency Communications Agency’s Intergovernmental Council would like to congratulate Valerie and thank her for her years of service.
