Planning Commission Home
The City of John Day Charter establishes a nine-member planning commission. Two are city council members, who are ex-officio members. The remaining seven are appointed by the city council to serve a four-year term, including one member from within the urban growth area surrounding John Day who resides outside the City limits.

Planning Commission Process
The planning commission is convened whenever a land use review or change in occupancy from one type of use to another requires a public hearing. Notice is given twenty days prior to the hearing and is published in the Blue Mountain Eagle.
