7th Street Bike Park
The Grant County Economic Council (GCEC) and Eastern Oregon Trail Alliance (EOTA) developed a new bike park in the city. The park features trails for both mountain biking and BMX bikes for riders of all ages and skill levels.
A public hearing for the Conditional Use Permit for the park was held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 6PM at the Fire Station Community Room, 316 S. Canyon Boulevard, John Day, OR. The Planning Commission approved the application as submitted.
Park Overview
The proposed project consists of two phases. Phase I featured several miles of gravity lines (flow track) and Phase II will include an all wheel type, all age pump track. It is located on the hillside above the 7th Street Park, and would provide another outdoor recreation area for youth and adults alike.
Collaborators
The City of John Day, the Parks and Recreation District, and the School Board are working together with the GCEC and EOTA for this project.
