City Council Public Hearing for Resolution No. 21-858-06, Referral of a Local Option Levy for Public Safety Purposes
Calendar Date:
The John Day City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, May 27th, 6:00 P.M. at the John Day Fire Hall, located at 316 S. Canyon Boulevard, John Day, OR 97845.
The purpose of the special meeting is to hold a public hearing and adopt findings in support of an emergency election to refer a ballot measure to John Day voters to fund the John Day police department. The public hearing will present findings substantiating the fact that an emergency exists that requires an election sooner than the next available election date to avoid extraordinary hardship to the community.
Following the hearing, the city council shall approval (or approve with amendments) the findings in support of the emergency election, and then adopt Resolution No. 21-858-06, A Resolution of the City of John Day Adopting Certain Findings in Support of Holding an Emergency Election; and Approving Referral to City’s Electors the Question of Imposing a Five-Year Local Option Tax Levy for Public Safety Purposes.
